UPDATE Newsletter–January 2022

Dear Friends of the Progreso Apoyo Program:

As we start the New Year, we want to give you a brief summary of what we have accomplished over the past year with your help. It was another challenging year, with schools remaining closed and student’s studying from home. Nonetheless, thanks to our sponsors and supporters the Progreso Apoyo Program:

  • Enrolled 11 new students into our program, bringing our total of students supported by our program to 60 deserving individuals.
  • Helped  our families pay for Internet fees so that students could participate in distance learning activities.
  • Offered Virtual English Program classes to 22 students – some of whom even continued to study English on-line during the summer months.
  • The highlight of the year was the completion our Computers for Progress project with Rotary International. With funds received from Rotary Clubs in the US and Mexico, we installed 33 computers in the three public middle schools of Progreso. Despite the pandemic, we produced a successful virtual edition of the Progreso Home Tour which helped us raise the money we need to operate our program and fund our special projects. We are currently making plans for the 4th Annual Progreso Home Tour, scheduled for March 5, 2022 at Crocodiles Restaurant.

We are beginning the process of collecting annual fees from our current sponsors. For those of you who are sponsors, look for an email from our Vice-President Dale Hunter-Aubichon who will provide you with information about how to renew your annual sponsorship fees for 2022. And if you’ve been thinking about becoming a sponsor, we are now recruiting new sponsors for 2022! Please take a look at our 2022 New Sponsor Information sheet for more information. http://progresoapoyoprogram.org/?page_id=41

Thanks for your support in helping us make sure that students in our communities are able to succeed in school – especially during these very difficult times.

Happy New Year from the Progreso Apoyo Program Board of Directors!
